Q: Where is your food pantry located?

Our food pantry is located at Garden City United Methodist Church, 500 Laurel Drive, Monroeville, PA 15146.

Q: Who qualifies to receive food from the pantry and is it free?

Food pantries provide supplemental food and serves individuals and families with an income of less than 150% of the federal poverty line. We recommend you bring proof of residency, proof of income and a valid I.D. to your first visit. To see if you qualify, click on the Eligibility Income Guide on the How to Get Help page.

Pantries provide food assistance based on household size. If you live in the same house or apartment, you’re counted as one household. You would receive one food order, not two.

Q: When is your food distribution day?

Our distribution day is the second Thursday of the month. Distribution hours are 9:00 am – 10:30 am and 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm.

Q: Can I go to more than one food pantry?

No. We ask that you choose one food pantry in your area for as long as you need it. This enables us to serve as many families and individuals as possible.

Q: What type of food will I receive at the food pantry?

You will receive non-perishable food items, bread, rice and noodles, dairy, frozen meat such as beef, pork, poultry and fish depending on the resources and choices.

A Senior box is an additional box of food you receive on distribution day after you do your regular shopping. To be eligible you must be 60 years of age or older; meet the income guidelines; and provide a valid ID and proof of income when you register.

Q: What is in a Senior box?

There is a variety of foods in the Senior box such as, canned goods, including fruit, vegetables, meats and beans. Cereal, peanut butter, pasta and cheese, juice and shelf-stable milk are included.

Q: Can I also go to “Produce to People” if I receive food from this pantry?

Yes, we encourage you to take advantage of the “Produce to People” program. You may go to as many of the distributions per month in addition to visiting one local food pantry. Location information and calendar can be found on the Nutrition Information page.

Q: Does your pantry deliver?

We are not able to provide this service but we allow another person to pick up your food for you. Speak with the Food Pantry coordinator and you will be provided a proxy form to complete. Also, if you are over the age of 60, Meals on Wheels will deliver a hot and cold meal to your home.

Q: I have some dietary restrictions. Can you help?

We do our best to provide food which will work with your needs/restrictions. Much of the food is donated, therefore particular items for a specific diet may not be available.
